Prescription Dispensing | Hornby, Christchurch
Stay Well Pharmacy provides a full dispensing service for all prescription medicines. Whether you're collecting a routine prescription or your doctor has prescribed something less straightforward to source, our experienced team will make sure you get exactly what you need, accurately, safely, and without unnecessary delays.
Standard Prescriptions
We dispense all standard subsidised and private prescriptions, and our pharmacists take the time to make sure you understand your medication, what it does, how to take it, and what to watch for. If you have questions about your prescription, or concerns about interactions with other medicines or supplements you're taking, please ask. We'd rather you left informed than uncertain.
We are also a Southern Cross Easy-Claim provider, so Southern Cross Health Society members can claim eligible prescription costs directly at the counter, no receipts to post, no waiting for a refund.
Special-Order & Difficult-to-Source Medicines
Some medicines are not held as standard pharmacy stock, they may be imported, produced in limited quantities, or prescribed infrequently. If your doctor has prescribed something that other pharmacies have told you they can't get, talk to us. We have established supplier relationships and experience in sourcing medicines that require special ordering, including:
Imported medicines not routinely available in New Zealand
Low-volume or infrequently prescribed medicines
Off-label prescriptions, where a medicine is being used outside its standard licensed indication
Off-label prescribing is a legitimate and well-established part of medical practice in New Zealand. Many medicines prescribed off-label have strong evidence behind them, they are simply being used in a way that hasn't gone through the formal licensing process for that specific indication. We work with these prescriptions regularly and will always ensure the dispensing is handled with the appropriate care and documentation.
We Deliver
Because we deal with doctors and patients all over New Zealand, helping with a variety of unusual medicines and treatments, we can deliver you medicine directly to your home or office. Whether its the CBD, or in the middle of nowhere rural, we have a courier solution to suit your needs. Contact us for more information.
Working With Your GP and Specialists
We believe the best health outcomes happen when your pharmacist, GP, and any specialists are working from the same page, not in isolation from one another.
If your prescription is complex, if you're on multiple medications, or if your doctor wants to discuss the best way to manage your treatment, our pharmacists and pharmacy technicians are available to liaise directly with your clinical team. We can assist with:
Clarifying prescription queries with your prescriber before dispensing
Advising on medicine interactions, particularly where pharmaceutical and natural medicines are being used alongside one another
Supporting your GP or specialist with information on sourcing or scheduling for unusual medicines
This kind of collaborative approach is particularly valuable for patients managing chronic conditions, those on complex medication regimes, or anyone whose treatment sits at the intersection of conventional and integrative medicine.
Clozapine Monitoring
Stay Well Pharmacy offers a dedicated clozapine dispensing and monitoring service. Effective clozaril therapy requires careful, consistent monitoring, and our team is trained to manage this safely. If you would like your clozapine dispensed through Stay Well Pharmacy, please speak to your prescriber and ask them to direct your prescription to us.
Please note: Stay Well Pharmacy does not operate a methadone dispensary or needle exchange. The closest pharmacy offering these services is Hei Hei Pharmacy (Wycola Ave) or Bargain Chemist Hornby (Main South Road)
